Presentation

interregPeptides play a vital role in the physiology of all organisms, either unicellular or multicellular, plants or animals. Their key role in most human biological processes raises considerable interest for the development of innovative, efficient and personalized diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic strategies. However, the use of peptides in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industry still faces some limitations with regards to their low bioavailability and poor stability. Many research teams (private and public) are thus actively working to overcome these limitations in order to fully exploit the immense potential of peptides for drug development and cosmetics.

To place the transchannel area at the forefront of peptide research, we created a Peptide Research Network of Excellence (PeReNE), whose goal is to gather the necessary skills and tools to build a unique peptide discovery and development platform which, will serve the scientific community, from small laboratories to big companies at the national and international level.

To reach this goal, institutes and research teams, with complementary expertise and internationally recognized as centers of excellence for their research on peptides have joined, to create a high-added value infrastructure that will integrate outstanding peptide know-how and state-of-the art technological tools to provide the research community with facilities crucially needed to rapidly and efficiently meet their growing scientific challenges.

PeReNE benefits from the combination of 23 support teams, which bring to the network specific complementary resources and skills for peptide research, 3 IBiSA Platforms, 2 SMEs and the Cosmetic Valley. PeReNE also gets support from the Chemistry-Biology-Health Technopole and from Science Action to develop partnerships with the industry and to communicate toward the lay public. PeReNE can provide expertise for the identification of novel bioactive or biomarker peptides, the synthesis of peptidomimetics, the production of peptides in planta, the evaluation of peptide activities on cellular and animal models... Based on our expertise and mutual interest, the research teams have set up 14 few collaborative research activities on bioactive peptides with innovative industrial opportunities in the biomedical, cosmetic and food industries.

Overall, PeReNE will provide researchers from the private and public sectors with the most state-of-the art techniques, facilities and support, and offer them the best possible training facilities in the field of peptide research.

RegPep2016, register now for attractive fees !

On behalf of the International Regulatory Peptide Society, the Summer Neuropeptide Conferences, the European Neuropeptide Club and the Groupe Français des Peptides et des Protéines, we would like to invite you to participate to RegPep2016 that will be held in Rouen (Normandy, France) from July 12th to 14th, 2016. The venue of RegPep2016 will be the Law Faculty, a beautiful new building located in downtown Rouen, on the bank of the Seine River, within walking distance from the Place du Vieux-Marché (where Joan of Arc was burnt alive in 1431) and the famous Cathedral, painted by Claude Monet.

The scientific program will comprise a Lay-public Lecture, 3 Plenary Lectures, 20 Symposia with 80 State-of-the-Art Lectures, 32 free oral communications selected from the abstracts, 12 communications from young investigators and 2 poster sessions.

Sessions will address both basic and clinical issues. Participation of clinicians and private companies is encouraged. Basic research will also be well represented with some sessions addressing for instance evolutionary aspects. Attending RegPep2016, you will be able to learn about the most recent advances on peptides that regulate cell, tissue or organ functions in physiological or pathological conditions. For more information regarding the program, please visit the RegPep2016 website (www.regpep2016.fr).

Besides the scientific program, the social events, included in the registration fee of all participants and accompanying persons, will comprise a get-together party on Tuesday July 12th, a visit of Rouen Impressionist Museum and a Banquet Dinner on Wednesday July 13th, and a visit of Rouen plus a firework display on the Seine River on Thursday July 14th. Travel awards for young investigators (graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) will be available. Satellite meetings will be organized before the RegPep2016 (July 11th) and an optional excursion to Etretat Alabaster coast will be proposed after the meeting (July 15th). We very much hope that you will be able to join us for this major international meeting on bioactive peptides in Rouen in 2016. During this meeting, you will meet old friends and colleagues, and initiate new relationships with others working in fields similar to your own.

Registrations are now open on the website with an attractive fee until January 31th, 2016 for early registration. If there is anything that we can do to help you attend the congress, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at david.vaudry@univ-rouen.fr
